Clipd ("Clipd," "we," "us," or "our"), operated by Luke Parenti (a sole proprietor based in Tennessee, USA), provides an iOS app that lets you save short-form videos (such as Reels and Shorts) you share to it, transcribes their audio, generates an AI summary, and delivers that summary as a note to your own note-taking vault.
This policy also covers theclipd.com, our marketing website, including the early-access sign-up page.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and your choices. We've kept it plain because the honest version is short.
1. Content you share to the app.
When you share a video to Clipd, we receive the link (URL) to that video so we can retrieve it and process it. We temporarily download the video's audio to transcribe it.
2. The text we generate.
We create a transcript and an AI-written summary ("note"), which we deliver to the destination you chose (your own note-taking vault).
3. Minimal usage data.
During the beta, for each video you process we log a per-user identifier (a token issued to you), the date you started, a timestamp, and a few basic details about the clip so we can understand how the app is used: the platform it came from (e.g. Instagram), the video's public identifier and its creator's public handle, the video's length, the app's own category/verdict label for it, the folder ("bucket") you filed it under, and whether processing succeeded. We use this only to measure whether and how people keep using the app (retention and product analytics) so we can decide whether to keep building it. We do not put the transcript text, the audio or video, or your generated note into this log. It is not sold or used for advertising.
4. Push notification token.
If you enable notifications, Apple provides us a device token so we can send you a "your note is ready" push. We use it only for that.
5. If you sign up for early access on theclipd.com.
If you submit your email on our landing page, we collect that email address so we can notify you when the app is available. We do not collect your name or any other information through this form.
6. Website traffic on theclipd.com.
Our marketing website uses Netlify Analytics, which measures traffic (page views, referring sites, top pages) directly from server logs. It does not use cookies, does not run tracking scripts in your browser, and does not identify individual visitors. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other cookie-based or cross-site tracking technology on our website.
We do not collect your name, contacts, location, photos, or browsing history through the app.
Your video's audio is downloaded, transcribed, and then discarded. We do not store the audio or the original video after processing. Transcription runs locally on our own processing infrastructure (using OpenAI's Whisper model running on our own machine), so your audio is not sent to any third-party transcription service. The audio is held only in memory for the moments it takes to transcribe it.
We use a small number of service providers strictly to make Clipd function:
Transcription is not shared with any third party. It runs on our own infrastructure (see "How the audio is handled" above).
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with anyone for marketing.
Your generated notes are delivered into your own vault / storage, which you control. Once delivered there, that content lives in your system under your control, not ours.
We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
We are based in the United States, and our service providers (Anthropic, Apple, Netlify) process data in the United States. If you use Clipd or visit theclipd.com from outside the United States, you understand that the limited data described in this policy will be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access it, to request its deletion, and to correct it. You also have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, but we do not sell or share your personal information, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
The categories of personal information we collect are limited to: identifiers (a per-user token, a push notification device token, and, if you sign up on theclipd.com, your email address) and internet/network activity (the minimal usage log described above and cookieless website traffic measurement). We do not collect your name, precise location, financial information, or any category of sensitive personal information.

If you are in the EU, UK, or EEA, the data controller is Luke Parenti (contact below). We process the limited data described in this policy on the following legal bases: to perform the service you asked for (processing the video you share and delivering your note), your consent (push notifications and early-access emails, which you can withdraw at any time), and our legitimate interests (a minimal usage log to understand whether the beta is working, and basic security).
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You may withdraw consent at any time, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. As noted above, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Clipd is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We use industry-standard measures (encrypted HTTPS connections; access-controlled endpoints) to protect data in transit and while it is briefly processed. No system is perfectly secure, but because we store so little, there is very little to expose.
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
